So for my first week in Australia, I did the Welcome To Travel Melbourne tour! It was amazing I met some great people and generally had the best week. Shout out to our tour guides who were fricking awesome!
Day 1: A Warm Welcome and Exploring Melbourne

I arrived in Melbourne feeling a bit nervous about what to expect, but as soon as we met our tour guides, I knew we were in good hands. They gave us a warm welcome and introduced us to the other travellers in our group. After a quick presentation about what we would be doing that week, we set out on a walking tour of Melbourne.
Our guides were knowledgeable and showed us some of the best sights in the city. We learned about Melbourne’s history, culture, and famous landmarks. We also got to know our fellow travellers and made some new friends.
After the walking tour, we went to the bank to set up our accounts so we could stay in Australia. The guides made this process easy and stress-free. Plus, we got a free pack of Timtams, which was a nice surprise!
In the evening, we went out for a welcome meal near Federation Square. The food was delicious, and we got to chat with our guides and fellow travellers. Some of us then headed to the Asian Beer Cafe to play drinking games and get to know each other even better.
Day 2 food, food and some more food
We started the day with a visit to Vic Market, one of Melbourne’s oldest and most iconic markets. We sipped on some delicious coffee and tried some local specialties while exploring the vibrant stalls. From fresh fruits and veggies to cheese, meats, seafood and baked goods, the market had something for everyone.
After our fill of food and drink, we headed back to our hostel to pack for the day ahead. Then, we set out for a walk to the Melbourne Skydeck, where we took in the stunning views of the city. We also stopped for some heavenly gelato on the way.
Next, we went shopping and explored the Lanes of Melbourne, famous for their colorful street art. The vibrant murals and graffiti were a feast for the eyes and made for great photo opportunities.

As the day turned into night, we headed to a cool bar for some drinks before getting some wine for our dinner. We then went to an Asian restaurant where we indulged in dumplings, dumplings and more dumplings!
To wrap up the night, we went to Ballers, an interactive game bar, where we played darts and had a blast. Although I may have had one too many drinks, and attempted the games!

Day 3 Road Trip Babyyyy
It’s Day 3 and we started our road trip. We headed to the beach to hunt for starfish and enjoy the sunshine. After soaking up some rays, we grabbed some lunch and went on a walk, where we saw some wild kangaroos!

Next, we headed to a winery for some wine tasting. Although the wine wasn’t the best, it was still a fun experience to try different varieties. But the real highlight of the day was yet to come. We headed to Phillip Island to see the smallest penguins in the world, and it was truly incredible! As the sun began to set, we saw about 800 of them on the beach, waddling their way back to their burrows.

After our penguin adventure, we grabbed some dinner and headed back to our motel, where we played card games and laughed the night away. It was the perfect end to an amazing day.
Road Trip Day 4: Surfing and Animal Sanctuaries
Day 4 was all about embracing our inner surfer dudes! We woke up early, grabbed some breakfast, and hit the waves for a 2-hour surf lesson. Although I wasn’t the best, it was so much fun trying to catch some waves.

After our surf lesson, we headed to an animal sanctuary where we saw koalas and got to feed kangaroos. It was such a special experience to interact with these animals and learn more about them.

Back at the hostel a few of us cooked up some delicious fajitas for everyone, and it was definitely a highlight of the trip so far.
Road Trip Day 5 Melbourne Comedy Month
Day 5 started with a work and travel presentation in the morning, but the real fun began when we headed to St Kilda. Although we were supposed to hit the beach, the storms meant we had to change our plans. So instead, we went on a comedy bar crawl as it’s Melbourne comedy month. We had a few drinks and watched 4 acts.
We then stayed in a bar in St Kilda, had some more drinks and food, and headed back to the hostel. It was a great day despite the weather not being on our side.
Road Trip Day 6: Planning and Nightlife
Day 6 was all about planning for the next few weeks of our trip. We had a one-to-one meeting with a team member to plan and book our travels, and I’m so excited for what’s to come. I’ve got After our planning session, we headed on a bar crawl and ended up in a few nightclubs. It was a great way to let loose and enjoy the nightlife in Melbourne.
