Now you can’t go to Cairns without doing an Uncle Brian’s Tour if you know, you know. I rooted for Uncle Brian’s Best of Both Worlds tour, a two-day exploration of rainforests, waterfalls and crocs!
Day 1
We started off bright and early and got picked up by our tour guide Cousin Kirk, yes he was as crazy as it sounds. Our first stop was at Babinda Boulders, where we had coffee and cake and went on a walk, before going for a swim in the water. I’ve never seen anything like this place, it honestly didn’t look real! We then headed to Joesphine Falls where there was a natural water slide we all went down. Now one of my favourite photos of my trip was taken at the next stop and it was at no other than Milla Milla Falls. The famous waterfall where the Mysterious Girl music video and herbal essence advert were made. I had never been under a waterfall before and the power of it was intense, the water was also extremely cold, but it was worth it for the photo.

We then headed for a swim in an ancient crater lake called Lake Eacham surrounded by lush rainforest, it was such a lovely colour and had some very cute turtles and a friendly freshwater crocodile (apparently). We then went platypus spotting and we managed to see 3 platipuses which was cool. At the same spot we also saw a tree kangaroo which is one of Australia’s rarest animals, so it was a very cool thing to see!

Later that afternoon we will arrive in Yungaburra and here you will spend the night at the Wallaby Eco Lodge. Which was the cutest little hostel, they cooked us dinner, before sending us out on a nighttime canoe on Lake Tinarro. The night canoes were spooky it was super misty and we saw lots of different wildlife. Including possums and snakes and big spiders, along with another tree kangaroo, what are the chances!
Day 2
After breakfast, we headed towards the Daintree National Park via Granite Gorge Nature Park where we fed rock wallabies, which were extra cute! We then went on a crocodile cruise, where we saw lots of different crocs. I definitely underestimated the size of them. It was really interesting to learn about them and see them in their natural habitat and not on a crocodile farm. We then went for lunch and went for a swim in their private swimming hole tucked in the rainforest. We then explored the Daintree rainforest more and went on a beach walk, where we tried fresh coconut and learnt some indigenous stories. Before our last stop, we went to a dairy farm, where we tried some very odd favours of ice cream, that included wattleseed and black sapote. We finished the afternoon in Port Douglas a lovely seaside town, before heading back to Cairns. Safe to say I was exhausted after the Cairns Best of Both Worlds Tour!
