One of my favourite trips in Australia was to Fraser Island, also known as K’gari, which means paradise. Despite the rain, it was an incredibly beautiful place, rich in indigenous culture and wildlife.

There are numerous tours available for visiting K’gari, and I opted for Pippeis. It turned out to be the only tour that provided showers. The night before the trip, I stayed at their hostel in Rainbow Beach, and early the next morning, we set off on our adventure.

Day 1

Each of us was assigned a 4WD car and followed the guide to the ferry for the island crossing. Driving along the vast stretches of beach next to the sea was breathtaking, and we even had the chance to see a few dingoes. Our first destination was Lake Mckenzie, a stunning perched lake with crystal-clear silica sand. Its vibrant blue colour was mesmerising, and we took a refreshing swim before having lunch.

We then headed on a rainforest walk, where we saw the river the indigenous people used to go to give birth in as it was a sacred place. After that, we headed to the campsite, where we cooked dinner, played some card games and got to know each other better. After a good amount of goon, some of us ended up in the rave cave, which ended up being a shed with a speaker and a disco ball. What more could you want?

Day 2

The following day we got up at 6am had breakfast and headed to the Champagne Pools, which were natural rock pools. We chilled out there for a bit, before heading back to the campsite for lunch. After lunch, we drove to Eli Creek a natural lazy river. We had a bunch of inflatables and slowly floated down the river. It was sooooo cold, but worth it as it was so much fun!

Day 3

The next day we headed to another lake which was an emerald green colour, before getting the ferry back to Rainbow Beach. It was definitely one of my favourite trips. I met some lovely people had a tonne of fun and got to see some beautiful nature.
